4th of July Fun!

I know I missed a week... but to be honest not much happened... :) Shocking, right? Well Carter did have his second week of "Adventures in Story land" and he loved it. He still cried every day at drop off - but ended up loving every minute.
Our niece Ruby got baptized on July 1st- we were lucky enough to attend and it was a beautiful day. After we were blessed to be able to spend time with family and it was great to just spend the day having fun with family (and no yard work...). I will have to admit that the little dirt bike is pretty cool and super fun to watch all the kiddies (and adults) enjoy it. We are so busy these days and don't spend as much time family- and it was days like these that make me realize we need to just slow down and truly enjoy life. I get frustrated at the yard and bathroom taking forever- but in reality its not that big of a deal... and I have an amazing husband who is working his butt off for us.

Sunday we all went to church and then came back to our place to eat dinner and then we decided to go to the park to play some yard games! It was so much fun. Decker was a little ornery - but the rest of us had fun! Decker is like me (I am assuming based on observations) and gets a little anxious when there are more people around and when routines get thrown... so I cut him some slack. He really did great though.

Monday Stuart had to work and Grandpa Hoffman, Rebecca and the kidlets stayed in Holladay with their friends until we all met up to go shotgun shooting-Greyson even joined in on the fun. It was a LONG BUMPY drive up the mountain (I hated it... turns out I really don't like 4 wheeling... and nor does Deck) - but I feel like we all had a bunch of fun! I am a terrible shot. As with any outing we had a mishap- Stuarts truck got a flat tire.... GAH. So annoying, so once we got that changed we headed back down the mountain for some good ol burgers at In and Out. Delicious.

Tuesday (4th of July) was a fun day too. Stuart and Greyson were able to spend some quality time with their dad (Grandpa Hoffman) golfing - and I was told that they all had a good time! (I was super glad to have not gone as it was HOT! and we all know how I feel about heat..... We had some time to spare when the men got back to the house and decker was napping. So we left Greyson with the kiddies and went shopping for Carters birthday present and BBQ stuff. I forget just how nice it is to go shopping sans kids... ahhh the little things in life. Our original plan was to go hiking when we all got together --- BUT I was not about to go hiking in 100 degree weather- NO THANK YOU! So we decided to go and see Cars 3 instead. As it turns out everyone but Decker and I would be seeing it- so I don't have much to say on the movie... but Decker and I went shopping at Target while we waited for the movie to be over. I heard it was a good movie... :)  I do enjoy one on one time with my little boy. I need to be sure to do more one on one time with Carter. When we got home we started prepping for the BBQ and Grandpa Hoffman and Rebecca gave Carter his birthday present and it was an awesome TMNT pedal bike and he loves it, he rode it for the rest of the night and we have gone on a bike ride every day since! It brings me so much happiness to see my children happy. Carter can sure give us a hard time, but there is nothing I wouldn't do for him. Can't believe he is almost 4... where the heck has the time gone?! Anywho after the BBQ we let off some fire works (Deckers first time and I have NEVER in my life seen Deck sit so still) and then we had to say bye to everyone. :( I love having family come and visit, but its always so hard to see everyone leave. We miss you all! Come back!!!!

It just so happens that this same week that Stuart had High Adventure camp Thursday-Saturday. So it was just me and the littles for the rest of the week. It was nice. We didn't do much at all, but Thursday the power went out (in 100 degree weather, this is truly tragic)- and it was out for a few hours. The boys and I went to eat with our good friend Annette Hansen - her husband was camping with Stuart- and it was so nice! We have so much fun when we are with Sister Hansen, Carter looks forward to sitting with her at church and walking to primary with her! We are so lucky to be in an amazing ward! I made fluffy slime with Carter while Decker was napping and it was so much fun for both of us. He said to me "Mom, I love that you made this slime, but what I love most is that we did it together." That comment melted my heart and made me realize I need to work on this. He always wants to help with what I am making or doing and I need to be letting him help me- but its SO hard because when he does help it doubles the amount of time it would take. But this leads me back to what I said before- what matters most? That dinner is ready right at 6 or that I spent quality time with my little boy who won't be little forever. I will do better at this.

Ahh that last picture I JUST took. They said they were going to watch a movie... and I looked in there and they are both passed out and snoring. They love their Sunday naps. :)
We are looking forward to this week. Hoping to get the back yard done! AND my parents will be in town. We are going to celebrate Carters birthday with them as well!!

Till next week.
xoxo

"Honey"

Wahoo. I am on a roll. :) SOO this week- was seemingly boring, but looking back at the pictures I took- maybe it wasn't? Its been a fun week! Let's start out with my goals for this last week- well if you remember it was to read the scriptures with my boys every day-- sadly I only did this 2 days this week. SO this will be my goal for this week as well. My second goal was to make my bed every day- I am HAPPY to report that I did much better with this goal. I made the bed 5 out of the 7 days. :) But I want to keep this goal for another week as well. Wish me Luck! :) Carter tarter pants... He has said some pretty funny things this week. First and foremost -- he has started calling me HONEY. It drives me bonkers and he thinks it is hilarious.... Stuart thinks it is funny too... gah. Another thing is when he is playing pretend he refers to himself as Carter Turnbow. So I asked him why he was saying "Turnbow" for his last name and he said so he could be just like Grandm...

Update on Summer

Well- I did it again. I stopped posting, life got in the way. I can't believe how fast the summer went, I mean, really. I wish I could say it was because we went on super fun vacations and to the pool all the time... because that certainly is not the case. I am a pretty boring mom. :) We stayed home a lot and went on a lot of bike rides. I wish I would have gone swimming more with the littles, but I was too nervous to take them on my own. Both Carter and Decker love the water and have no fear- which makes for one anxious mama at the pool. The other part is I was not feeling well because of the pregnancy-- but I will do a separate post on that next. So we played a lot inside and worked on the yard. . . oh the yard! I just have to say that its looking amazing! All of Stuart's hard work paid off. The grass is coming in and is simply beautiful!!!! We have been clear to walk on the front and even mow it! The back is a little bit slower in coming ...

What would you do for a free cookie?

I just have to post this so I don't forget this. What I am about to relate is 100% true and I am, honestly, still in shock from it all. . . At the end of last week Carter and our little neighbor friend (he is a few years older than Carter) were having a great time playing. They decided to go and ride bikes. Now, since Carter is only 4, we really limit where he is allowed to ride his bike without a parent. (I know I am kind of like a helicopter parent- but he is ONLY 4!) So when the boys headed out I reminded him to stay on our street and out of the street and to let me know where he would be at all times. . . That last I knew- they were going to be at his friends house... So when his mom texted me and asked me to send him home--- you know me--- I went into FULL panic mode. Went outside and was looking up and down the street and they were no where to be seen. Now full panic mode was pushed into border line panic attack mode. . . So about 30  okay 8 minutes later here came Carter d...
