At the end of July we had our annual family reunion with my side of the family. We always go to Scofield to a cabin there and we all LOVE it. I know that I look forward to it every year and am always so sad when it is over. This year was no different. already looking forward to it next year. It is so great to spend a weekend with my family and to enjoy the outdoors. (without internet and phone service)
This year we all got up there on Thursday evening and just relaxed (well most people relaxed, I made my little family get family pictures taken.... bless them and Rachel for doing it...it truly is NOT an easy task.) It is always so fun to see all the cousins get together and play- like no time has passed at all. They (for the most part) all play so well together! It is times like these that makes me really miss living in Colorado close to most of our family.
Friday was AWESOME- the best weather ever! It was over cast and a little rainy- which was such a nice break from all the heat we have been having this summer (is it FALL yet, I mean really)! We kind of had a slow morning and then mostly everyone went fishing at the dam, but Decker was in desperate need of a nap, so he and I stayed back. Next up was horseback riding, always one of my favorites! The kids all really love it as well, now that a lot of the kiddos are older they are able to ride them by themselves without someone leading them- I do not fall in that category, I am always happy to let someone lead the horse as I have been bucked off before- I am still a little wary of them. :) We brought up a little dirt bike for everyone to ride and I will admit that it was a lot of fun! The kids loved it and they got so good at it that most of them rode it all by themselves! It was so fun to watch! My mom even rode it and liked it!
Saturday Grandpa and 90% of the children and a few other adults got up early and went fishing in the boat. They all loved it and had a fantastic time -- until it was time to gut the 5 fishes that they caught... But if they are going to learn to fish they are going to learn ALL about fishing- including the gutting part... this is why I chose not to partake in the fishing. We then went and did some geo-caching which is something I have never done. It was a lot of fun-- we went and rode the boat and canoe out to the "island" which was a lot of fun, even though we never actually found the dang treasure, but it sure was a fun adventure. There were a few incidents to report of kiddos falling into water and snake sightings. . . but all in all everyone had a great time, I know we all did. Decker was a huge turd ALL weekend and only wanted to be held by me if I was in the room or anywhere near him, so I tried to avoid him at all costs... but really, I did. Then the kidlets wanted to have a big water fight- which was kind of a disappointment, but they all seemed to have fun- most of them just wanted to get other people wet and were a little perturbed when they got wet---
Sunday we all went home. . .some of us had much shorter drives than others... but we all made it back safely and can't wait for next year!
xoxo- till next time
